When and where is the Contest and Fan Convention taking place?
The contest and convention will take place on January 8th 9th 10th & 11th,
2009.
The entire contest and convention will be held at the Norbreck Castle,
Blackpool.
The main stay accommodation will be the Norbreck Castle, Blackpool.

• Heat A - Friday 9th January 2009 (Afternoon)
• Heat B - Friday 9th January 2009 (Evening)
• Heat C - Saturday 10th January 2009 (Afternoon)
• Heat D - Saturday 10th January 2009 (Evening)
Finals - Sunday 11th January 2009 (Evening)

How do I register as a contestant for the main contest ?
i. Contestants can register on-line at this
website.
ii. By printing and posting form available at this website.

Convention registration fees are as follows: £40.00 per
contestant. Please make cheque’s payable to Elvis Contests Ltd.
Please note that all contestants must also sign the ‘Contest Agreement’ to
participate in the contest. This agreement is part of your registration
form.
All performers must register for the contest.
How do I gain entry to the final?
Contestants will gain entry to the finals from either of the following:
i. 4 Qualifying Rounds (9th & 10th January 2009)
ii. Pre-qualified by gaining 1st 2nd or 3rd at the January 2008 Main Contest
From Friday and Saturday heats combined, the fifteen contestants with the
highest scores qualify for the final.
Important Info:
• You can perform any two Elvis songs of your choice to backing track
accompaniment.
• Total performance of both songs to last no longer than 8 minutes per
contestant.
• Elvis medley's are allowed as long as- (1) Elvis performed it in the exact
same medley song content, and (2) Contestant does not exceed his 8 minute
allocated performance time.
• Contestants will be informed of their heat confirmation at least 7 days
before contest start. Running order of contestants for heats will be drawn
on the evening of Thursday 8th January 2009.
• Please be sure to make yourself available at least one hour prior to your
contest heat.
• Contestants musical backing must be in preferably Mini-Disc format, or a
1st copy CD recording. Musical backing tracks are available upon prior
request.
• It would help us if you can have your tracks clearly labelled and cued up
ready to perform.
• Top 15 highest scored contestants from combined Heat A, Heat B, Heat C &
Heat D will qualify for the Sunday Final.
Contest Grand Final ?
Important Info:
• The Contest Grand Final will take place on the evening of Sunday 11th
January 2009.
• Finalists will perform two songs.
• All relevant heat rules (see above) comply for the final also.
•
• All finalists have the choice of backing tracks or live band.
How will the contest be judged ?
Contestants will be judged on the following –
1. Vocals: Ability of the ETA to match the sound and quality of Elvis’s
voice.
2. Appearance: Ability to create a look and style that well represents
Elvis.
3. Performance: Ability to perform as Elvis in a style in which he would
have
performed.
4. Stage Presence: Ability to re-create the charisma Elvis created when
performing on stage.
Judging forms will be developed on a points system. Those ETA's receiving
the highest
scores will determine the finals qualification. Those ETA's receiving the
highest
scores in the finals will determine the winners. The contestant with the
highest points score overall will receive the winners title of 'European
Champion 2009'. In the event of a draw the contestant with the highest
points score from his heat will determine the winner.

Gospel Contest ?
Contestants entering the ‘main contest’ have the option of
being entered into the ‘Elvis Gospel Contest’ FREE OF CHARGE. Contestants
wishing to participate in the Gospel Contest only will incur an entrance fee
of £15.00. Novice contestants are not permitted to enter the Gospel contest.
Novice Contest ?
• The novice contest will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 11th January
2009
• A novice contestant agrees to have never performed an Elvis show as an ETA
be it paid or un-paid.
• Running order of contestants will be made on the day.
• All Novice contestants must sign an entry/agreement form.
• Contestants musical backing must be on preferably Mini-Disc format, or 1st
copy CD recordings. Musical backing tracks are available upon prior request.
• Novice contestants will perform 1 Elvis song of their choice.
• Prize and certificate for first place winner.
